Granite

Granite countertops are a popular choice for kitchens and bathrooms. The natural flow and mixture of colors is inviting and the durability of granite creates a work surface with character.

There are a limited number of quarries producing granite; however, there are an unlimited number of names that people may call the same slab. Color, shade, clarity and movement in granite will vary from slab to slab. Research your options for choosing slabs for your project.

Common materials in granite include feldspar, quartz and mica. Although granite is a very dense material, it is porous and requires routine maintenance for cleaning and sealing depending on sealant used and frequency of use.

After your cabinets are installed, a template must be made to ensure accurate and efficient use of your slab. Typically, granite is produced in 2 cm and 3cm thicknesses. 2 cm product is most often used for vanity tops. For kitchens, a second layer around the edges is added to create a 4 cm edge. 3 cm slabs do not require an edge build up.

For a one-of-a-kind look for your project; indulge in granite.
